This is a special general meeting to discuss the amendment of the Shuttlecats club charter to better distribute responsibilities amongst all Committee members.

The Shuttlecats SGM:

• When: 2:00pm - 3:30pm, Sunday 4th May
• Location: Meeting Room #3, Kathleen Syme Library and Community Centre

SGM deadline:

• Committee Nominations deadline: Friday 2nd May, 5pm (nominations will be accepted from the floor on the day)
• Proxy Appointment deadline: Friday 2nd May, 5pm

SGM Agenda:

At the SGM we will discuss and vote on the following:

1. Amend section 44 of the Shuttlecats Charter to alter the Committee composition (see “Special Resolution Proposal”),
2. Elect members into the 2025 Committee, and
3. If neither item 1 or 2 pass with the minimum votes required, discuss alternative methods to transfer responsibilities away from the 2024 Committee members in order to sustain the club

In accordance with rule 39 for special resolutions, ¾ of members voting at the SGM (whether in person or by proxy) in favor of the proposal for it to take effect.

Special Resolution Proposal

That Shuttlecats Badminton Club adopt the following resolution:

Amendment of Rule 44 – Composition of the Committee

That Rule 44 of the Club Charter be amended to allow the assignment of specific officer duties to Ordinary Committee Members, and that Rule 44 be replaced with the following:

44 Composition of Committee

(1) The Committee consists of—

(a) a President; and

(b) a Vice-President; and

(c) a Secretary; and

(d) a Treasurer; and

(e) ordinary members (if any) elected under rule 53.

(2) Ordinary members may be assigned specific duties as designated by the incumbent Committee.

It is intended that this resolution be proposed as a special resolution.
